Description
The Cove Boulders in Roger's Rock Campground are a great diversion after a morning on the slide or as a destination if you're overnight there. There are 12 obvious blocks with the landmark attraction being main / house / campground boulder (the mothership). For the sake of cartography I have always referenced these alphabetically going from the cove towards the campground (Alpha through Kilo, ping me directly for details as I am not posting all 12 here) and while each block has at least one V-Easy path to the summit with opportunities for top-ropes, there are are number of obvious and named routes (you'll need the Adirondack Bouldering Guidebook for details) and signs of recent activity.
Getting There
The boulders are within the Rogers Rock State Campground just 5 miles south of Ticonderoga in Hague, NY (an hour and 45 mins north of Albany). A day-use fee or Empire Pass is required during the peak season but is accessible year round (park high by the office in winter as the roads are not plowed or salted). Once inside the campground, simply descend bearing left and follow the waterline E NE parking just past the beach or driving all the way into the Association Campsite or Island Camping Parking in the off-season. Continue a short time on foot toward the Cove and meet the mothership as an overwhelming welcome to the area.
