Description
Susanville, a small town in Northern California which sits in the middle between where the Sierra Nevada mountains end and the Cascade Range begins. Located in such a transitional area, it’s not surprising the geographical diversity the area shares, where one can travel from alpine woodlands, across ridgelines choked with Juniper and sage brush, through forests of Black Oaks and out to millions of square miles of mountainous deserts all in about a 20 minute drive.
Already well known for its world class hunting and fishing opportunities by outdoor enthusiasts, Susanville has begun to open its doors to to its vast potential for outdoor recreation in recent years by not only allowing, but encouraging hikers, Mountain Biking, kayaking and Rock Climbing. The Ranch Park and Bizz Johnson trail projects have built over 100 miles of single track Mountain Bike and hiking trails with plans for much more going in to the future.
As for Rock Climbing, the location sitting on the edges of both the Sierra Nevada and Cascade Ranges brings with it a multitude of rock types including Granite, Basalt, Monzonite and Rhyolite.
