Carihuairazo is a volcanic caldera, at only 5018m tall. The glacier has seen massive recession in recent history. Climbing is done usually during snowier periods to avoid the poor quality volcanic rock of this peak.

Getting There Suggest change

The trailhead is located in indigenous land, you must pay for access at the gate.
