Description
Lake Aloha is a huge lake in Desolation Wilderness. Boulders and rocks everywhere. Because the approach is 8 - 10 miles, it's not hugely popular. But it's amazing!
Getting There
From Echo Lakes, hike Lake Aloha. The most developed bouldering is on the North Shore, which is about a 10 mile hike from the Echo Lakes trailhead. There is also a water ferry in the summer that can cut 2 miles off the hike, or you can bring your own canoe. There are boulders at the South end of the lake as well, but it's another 2 miles on the PCT/TRT and then on to the Rubicon Trail towards Mosquito Pass if you're going to the North Shore. Aloha Boulder is the big freestanding boulder on the plateau and can be used as starting point for finding the other boulders.
