Description Suggest change

This area is so new it is not in Josh Horniak's North Tahoe "A Rock Climber's Guide" This area was developed December 2020 and contains 5 bolted sport climbs. The area sees sun around noon. This area was put up by a 71 and 76 year old fellas, hence the name. Be aware that some of these routes require a 70m rope. The route that has an 8" evergreen tree next to it is "Foot Loose", 20' to the right is "I'm Getting Way to Old for this Shit" and 15' to the left is "Oh Where, Oh Where is my Rocking Chair". The first route left of "Oh Where is my Rocking Chair" is "The Fin" and left of that is "G.O.A.T.T."

Getting There Suggest change

From I-80, exit onto Hwy. 20 and drive toward Nevada City. After 3.5 miles turn north (right) onto Bowman Rd. and drive for 1.3 miles. Just before the bridge that crosses the Yuba River, there is a dirt access road. Park on either side of the bridge (Be sure you don't block the dirt access road) Pass thru the locked gate on the access road and walk in. After walking 750 yards on this dirt road you will see a cairn (be aware that people seem to enjoy removing this cairn, for some reason) on the right take this trail, (you will pass many cairns on the right but to find the correct trail pace out 750 yards. If you come to a clear flat area that has many piles of PG&E of rocks, you have gone 200 yds too far) continue on this trail for approx. 200 Yards (you will pass a metal bench on the right) to where the trail goes uphill. This point may be difficult to locate, people have put many cairns here and I put a sign that people keep removing. When you get to the top of this uphill section (approx 30 yds) continue approx 25 yds and turn right just past a 5' bolder (3 yds right of the trail, should be a cairn there). After about 5 yds the trail will "Y", go left to Bear's Lair and right to Elder Wall, continue veering right, up the faint trail to the wall. You will know you're at the wall if you see an 8" evergreen tree approx. 4' from the wall
