Access Issue: Do not climb after rain! Details

Like many areas in the desert, the soft Dakota sandstone here is very fragile and porous, and especially so after recent rainfall - climbs could be permanently damaged or destroyed if climbed on while wet. Additionally, avoid using a wire brush to clean off lichen.

This subarea has Dakota Sandstone boulders on a sunny, west-facing hillside above the road. There is a good density of problems and a decent circuit with more problems to be found with a little bushwhacking.

Getting There

Park at mile marker 7 (per the directions on the main page), and walk uphill through some talus to find a well-established trail to the main cluster of boulders.
