Description
This is a beautiful pond with a popular rock outcropping on the southwest shore. The approach is easy (flat and short), which makes this a popular destination for hikers and swimmers. Despite being a short approach, it feels remote and quiet, like how it would feel if it was deep in the High Peaks.
There is a cliff on the east shore, and some boulders in the talus below the cliff.
Getting There
Exit the Northway at Exit 28. From the intersection of US 9 and NY 74, drive south on US 9 for 0.6 mile, then turn left onto Alder Meadow Road. Go 2.1 miles and bear right at the Y intersection onto Adirondack Road. Continue 1.7 miles to the Gull Pond Trailhead on the left.
From the parking, follow the hiking trail east about 10 minutes to the pond. Just before the pond, turn left off the trail and follow the shoreline clockwise to reach the cliff.
