Description
This is a sliver of rock located off the most prominent battlement. The rock is mostly sandstone with some conglomerate, sedimentary, rock-hard mud which provides some unique-looking features. Depending on which part of the wall you choose to climb can completely change the rock presentation and climbing to be had. Splitters to face climbing to bouldering this cliff can provide it all. Choss wranglers will especially love the mud layers.
I put in these routes, because this was my backyard for a time. The whole cliff can be toproped off trees. I put in the bolts for my convenience. I fecided to share, because I don't live in Battlement Mesa/Parachute anymore and thought it would be good for any climber who lived in town to know this option exists.
Getting There
You'll see the part of the cliff up toward the most prominent battlement. Head up straight towards the cliff, and you'll find a dirt road off to the right. Take this dirt road to the second drainage you come across. Follow the second drainage down till you find a good area to climb out. Head up, and traverse the cliff until you get to the cliff. I have haphazardly cairned the approach. It would just be best to take these coordinates and make your way there how you seem fit.
The coordinates take you to the base of the main area: 39.4279187, -107.9905790.
All in all, it should take you 30 minutes from time you exit the interstate to reach the cliffs, that's with the approach included.
