Description

The Dumpwall crag is one of several crags located 650m east of the North Shore Highway (hwy440) at the hilltop before entering Hughes Brook. There are some great quality routes here even though the limestone can be a little chossy. The routes are quite well cleaned, but will continue to shed and climbers must always keep an eye for possible blocks and small loose stones.

A Helmet is strongly advised and climbers should not congregate beneath a climber. Be sure to stay on route and use directionals while top roping, as most routes meander.

Getting There

From Corner Brook take Riverside Dr, from TCH 1 take HWY440 and take the bridge across the Humber River towards Irishtown/Summerside. Drive for 4.7km after crossing the the Humber River and park on the roadside at the top of the hill just after a road sign. The start of the approach trail is the obvious path through the forest. After about 400m the trail will split at a big stump on the right, where you will keep right. When you start to head up the hill where the trail becomes less obvious, there will be markings on trees that will lead you to the crag.
