It's against national park rules to climb in Rock Creek Park, so do it at your own risk. Most of the areas are sheltered or more remote, and with clear chalk marks on the rock (as of 2020) it seems that people have been coming to some of these places on and off for years.
Description
There are a few decent boulders along beach drive in Rock Creek Park (RCP).Some are very far north (just south of Wise Rd.). There's another big boulder and slab section just next to the boulder bridge (Theodore Roosevelt was actually photographed climbing here), and finally, there's a small bouldering crag just off of Embassy Row in lower RCP.
Getting There
There are many ways into rock creek park. The center of the park essentially is the intersection of Beach Drive and Military Rd. See the National Park website for detailed park map, or just download the AllTrails app, which has a great map of RCP trails. The specific climbing area you want to visit will dictate where you enter the park, though there are hiking trails all up and down the park, that can allow you to navigate almost anywhere within.
