Warning Access Issue: Technical Rock Climbing is not allowed in Gateway Mesa Open Space. DetailsDrop down

Description Suggest change

Gateway Mesa consists of sandstone and conglomerate. It climbs similar to Castlewood Canyon. Though the climbing at Gateway is not as extensive, advantages include free access and potential for new first ascents. The rocks are covered in moss, and holds tend to break. Be prepared to brush and clean routes.

Getting There Suggest change

Head West on CO 86 from Franktown. Signs for Gateway Mesa Open Space parking are a couple minutes past the Castlewood Canyon back entrance.
