Arizona > Central Arizona > Four Peaks Wilderness

Description

***Shooting guns is a popular activity in the Four Peaks Wilderness. Although this area is mostly hidden from view, be aware when in exposed areas if people are shooting nearby***

Rock, cacti, and the sounds of distant gunfire. This hillside is littered with piles of desert granite boulders. This area was discovered and initially developed during Winter-Spring 2020. The first season yielded many classics and projects. There is much, much room for further development. A great spot to camp too!

Getting There

To get to the Gun Gallery from Phoenix, take HWY 87N and exit right onto Cline Cabin Rd (look for sign to "Four Peaks Wilderness"). Continue on Cline Cabin Rd for 3.4 miles then stay right before cattle guard (past cattle guard goes to FR68...WRONG WAY). Continue on Cline Cabin Rd for 3.2 miles until dirt pullout on left (parking lot: 33.712550, -111.453982). This is mild dirt road without boulders or steep turns. Relatively easy drive.

Beta and Classics

Bring pants, hat, plenty of water, and strong skin. Also, expect a healthy amount of stabby plants. Start at OG Spot, the main hub of the area. Most of the things here have only seen a handful of ascents, so be prepared to clean a bit. Enjoy the desert!

If it's your first visit, get on these!

'Richard Dawkins' (V3), 'Hitchslap' (V2), 'Peb Cycle' (V5-6; CONDITION DEPENDENT) at OG Spot

'Squeeze the Trigger' (V4) at the Pepper Patch---the first route put up in the area

'Plane-arium' (V2) at the Outer Space boulders

'Thunder Gun' (V4) and 'Thunder Gun Express' (V5) at the Thunder Gun boulder
