Challis Pallis

Idaho > Central Idaho

Description

Morning sun. Orange rock of the challis volcanics. There is a series of large orange brown towers, much of which looks super chossy.....it is! I have looked at this stuff for years and finally hiked up the short scree slopes to look at it. The most compact faces are clean and almost polished in texture, providing clean cut edges and crack systems.

Getting There

Drive south from Challis1 mile, turn right on hwy75 towards Stanley. The crags are on the right. Look for a large pullout on right about half a mile down the road. There is a large left facing corner system with an obvious horizontal roof splitting it. This is the main area so far.
