You can publicly access The Buckskin Crag’s Sweet Spot by starting out on the Made in the Shade trail (parking off of CR3A), traveling on One Track Mind, and finding your way to the Sweet Spot area (about 2.5 miles each way).
Description
The Buckskin Crags is an outdoor climbing and adventure area, located within The Royal Gorge Ranch & Resort.
This is the old location of Buckskin Joe.
43% of The Royal Gorge Ranch & Resort is being turned into an Open Space Park that is accessible to the public. A big part of that Open Space Park is known as The Buckskin Crags (named after the old site of Buckskin Joe). This area hosts several different styles of Climbing, two Via Ferratas, Mountain Biking, Highlining, Midlining and Hiking.
Open year-round to the public or 3 seasons to the Ranch & Resort, this area is perfect for finding north-facing cliffs in the heat of the summer, to the beautifully warm south-facing cliffs in the winter. Approaches are tame within the resort, ranging from 5 minutes to 30 minutes. Approaches for the public is roughly 2-2.5 miles each way in.
Getting There
The Royal Gorge Ranch & Resort community will have exclusive access to The Buckskin Crags, parking within the Ranch & Resort allowing super easy access with hikes ranging from 5 minutes to 20 minutes. This access is for Ranch and Resort members only, as it is a gated community.

You can publicly access The Buckskin Crag’s Sweet Spot by starting out on the Made in the Shade trail (parking off of CR3A), traveling on One Track Mind trail, and finding your way to the Sweet Spot area (about 2.5 miles each way).
To access the Buddha Wall area, you can save time by taking the Royal Gorge Ranch and Resort trail split from One Track Mind trail, to the road within the resort. From here, head northwest on the road to a trail at the bottom of the hill. Take this trail until it splits right over a large hill. Stay on this trail to the Buddha Wall (roughly 2 miles each way).
