Description

Small climbing area on quality basalt in the Red Desert of Wyoming. This remote crag requires a high clearance vehicle to access. There are several small crags along this extended cliff band with 50+ established routes. There are a mix of trad and sport climbs available ranging from 5.7 to 5.12. Cliffs average 30-40ft in height. This area lies on a patch work of oil lease and BLM land. Primitive camping is available on the BLM sections. This is a wild area so bring your spirit for adventure!

Getting There

From 1-80 take exit 122 and go north toward the small town of Superior. After 6.6 miles turn right onto Cliff Overy Rd. Follow this road east which turns into the Superior Cuttoff Rd. After a total of 2.3 miles stay left and after 100 ft take the undeveloped two track road headed north. The first section of this road is the roughest. Follow this road to the north staying to the right for 1.7 miles. At the T intersection take a right and head east. Follow this road for 1.1 miles taking the fork to the left near the end of the road. Continue northeast for a quarter mile to the primarily parking area.

Can also be approached from the Jim Bridger Power plant via a two track road. This route is more direct but has a couple more severe rocky sections.

From the parking area follow the faint trail to the north east the circle back south through the boulders to the base of The Jungle crag. Some of the routes have a the grades painted at the bases. The Nautical area is located about 300 yards to the north across a ravine. Albert's Area is at the southern end of the cliff band below the small parking area.
