Description
The West Forest is home to one of Gold Bar's must popular warm-up boulders, Beam Me Up. Other than that, it's a great place to find some solitude. The area is well shaded, making it a nice refuge from the summer heat. The climbs tend to be more moderate and short compared to other areas. Beam Me Up (V2) and Lightning Crack (V0) are must-dos for any beginner. Harder climbs, like the classic test-piece Lighten Up (V9), are sprinkled in throughout. It's also worth checking out the Outkast Boulders, which are a small collection of quality boulders not included in the Western Washington Bouldering guidebook.
Getting There
Follow this trail until you reach the Clearcut Boulders and see a trail heading north straight uphill. Take the trail up the hill. Once you hit the edge of the forest you should see the Beam Me Up Boulder on your left. Trails to both Zeke's and Green Goblin can be accessed from this area.
