Description
The great Via Ferrata country of the world.
The Dolomites of Italy were first, but then the developers in Austria tried harder and created lots of more interesting, more modern, bigger, better via ferrata routes.
German word for via ferrata is Klettersteig, often abbreviated KS, so . . .
VF Laserz = Laserz KS = Laserz Klettersteig
. . . (plural Klettersteigen)
Missing is an English-language guidebook. But there is at least one excellent German-language guide:
- - > Klettersteigführer Österreich, by AlpinVerlag.
Tirol region
lies just north of the Dolomites and just south of the Zugspitze and is full of interesting VF routes.
- - > see Tirol region VF page.
routes to consider . . .
* Innsbrucker Höhenweg
* Kaiser Max (in a sport crag on NE side of Innsbruck)
* Laserz + Panorama + Seehorn (Lienzer Dolomiten mountain group, next to NW Dolomites of Italy).
Salzburg region
* Kaiserjödler (S side of Berchtesgaden mountains)
* Salzburg City Wall
* Postamklamm (gorge in Salzkammergut "Sound of Music" mountains by Salzburg).
Steiermark region
has the Dachstein mountains -- amazing for alpine VF routes, especially around the high-reaching mechanical lift at Ramsau-am-Dachstein.

Getting There
Major international airport for western Austria (esp Tirol, Salzburg, Vorarlberg) is Munich (MUC) -- or smaller airports at Innsbruck or Salzburg.
Vienna / Wien is obvious choice for eastern Austria.
Tirol region has excellent connections on high-speed highways and train lines to the Dolomites and to Germany.
