Description Suggest change

The rock is limestone, less than vertical with a max height of 100 ft. Most routes are bolted though there are some pitons. All the routes have two bold anchors but most don't have rap rings. There are a few 2 pitch climbs.

What this crag lacks in grandeur and grades it makes up for in proximity and privacy. To be on a lightly trafficked nature reserve with rock-climbing just 20 minutes away from downtown Fes, that is something special. There is a shaded area on the west end of the crag where you can cool off between climbs and its also a great place for picnics and hammocks. The crag is south facing and you will have direct sun for most of the day. The left side stays in the shade longer in the morning and the right side will get the shade earlier in the afternoon.

Getting There Suggest change

Use the information on the Jebel Zalagh parent page to get details on how to get to the mountain from Fes. Once you are at the mountain, it is best to start up along the path that follows the west wall of the red hotel. There are four main switchbacks that lead to the base of the crag. From the top end of the red hotel, follow the trail that leads steeply up to the right of an Agave plant then follow the trail as it leads up along a line of eucalyptus. Where the Eucalyptus end follow the switchback that heads west again until you reach the first Aleppo Pine.
