Description
Thor Peak is one of the underrated gems of the Teton range, often overshadowed by neighboring Mount Moran. Truly a place for those seeking a more remote and obscure objective. Overnight camping permits are required for this area, and can be obtained at the Jenny Lake Ranger Station.
Getting There
Thor Peak is accessed via Leigh Canyon approximately 1.5 miles from the campsites on the lake shore. About an hour and a half paddle from the String Lake portage will place you square at the mouth of the canyon. From there the rest of the approach is a healthy mix of bushwhacking and loose scree scrambling along the north side of the canyon. Sparse cairns can help guide the way, however, it is recommended to stay high to avoid the dense brush.
