Description Suggest change

From what I've read and heard from locals the big issue is navigating tidal changes. Weather and tides were not an issue for us when we climbed it, but we may have just been lucky. Trust your gut.
Rock is fine grained sedimentary rock. Rock quality was good for the most part, although we pulled off some loose holds and there were some that were ready to blow. There were two fixed pins on the route we climbed that are flaking off rust. Trust them at your own discretion.

Getting There Suggest change

First, get to Fast Castle Cottage. If possible, speak with the owners of the cottage to let them know what you are doing and where you are going. The no trespass law is in effect, but it goes a long way to show respect to the land owners and let them know you are being courteous to their land and rights.
From the cottage hike north east through an old gate. Follow a nice trail that goes right (east) and gradually starts descending toward the coast. Do not go left at the first fork, but stay high and right continuing on the faint trail that leads past the first outcrop of rocks on the coast. If you go left (descend) too soon you will have to hike back up and around to get to the the far eastern outcrop where the Souter is located. It is about a mile hike with several hundred feet of elevation loss going down, which means a longer hike getting out. Watch for ticks, stinging nettle and try to stay on the game trails to avoid damaging any land unnecessarily.
Once the Souter comes into view, be careful on the approach. There are a few switchbacks starting NW from the prow across the Souter that get you down to the base of the route without the need for a rappel/abseil. Be cautious as the ground is soft dirt that could come loose, and a fall would be very bad anywhere during the approach. All the coastal edges drop several hundred feet to rock beds at sea level, so use your head and again, trust your instincts.
