Access Issue: NO DRONES ON NATIONAL PARKLANDS Details

All of the crags within the New River Gorge proper are on national parklands, and drone use is prohibited here. There has been some discussion about places to launch drones that are not on park property, and then flying them over the gorge. This is super poor form; don't do it. Park regulations prohibit all drone use over the boundaries without a permit.

Description

The second crag of the Cotton Hill trio, also known as Jonestown. A continuous cliff that holds a nice variety of both sport and trad moderates, but unfortunately with quite a bit of broken, ledgy rock. The best routes are at the far upstream end on Government Buttress.

Getting There

Park in the Cotton Hill lot and begin walking up the road past the boulder. Walk around the gate and after a few yards pick up a trail on your left. Wind your way up the hill; total approach time to the first climb is ~10 minutes.
