2022: South Face closures from May 15 - July 31.
Per Charlie Martz: raptor closures (peregrine falcons) are in effect in 2021: the South Face climbing area is impacted by these closures starting March 15th from The Great Corner (west side of S. Face) across the South Face to Sunrise. . . and includes the top of the rock (above the climbs, not the hike to the "summit") and the descent trail.
Per Citsalp: raptor closures (peregrine falcons) are in effect in 2019: the South Face climbing area is impacted by these closures May 15 - July 31 from Blackish Blobs (west side of S. Face) across the South Face to Sunday Morning. . . and these include the top of the rock (above the climbs, not the hike to the "summit") and the descent trail. Other climbing areas should remain open.

Description
The Overlook is a shady and funtastic addition to the Lory State Park and Arthur's Rock Climbing. Sure... the granite crystals can be a bit sharp, and currently the routes are a bit scruffy, but... this area will shape up to be a Fort Collins classic hang. The climbing tends to be technical by nature and climbs on vertical to slightly steeper terrain with even a roof encounter here-and-there. One of the best parts of this new zone is it pulls the climbers away from the seasonal raptor closures of the main area. Happy birds and climbers!
Classics such as 'Black Dog' and 'Overview Effect' will certainly have climbers coming from everywhere to sample their movement and position!
Come for the views... stay for the climbing!
All the bolts were funded and provided by The NCCC. If you would like to make a donation for future projects, visit the website here: http://nococlimbing.org/.
Thanks to the work of the NCCC with Lory State Park (LSP), a Fixed Anchor Initiative has been put in place. This initiative allows for the replacement of old anchors and installation of fixed anchors for new routes through an application process.
Please consult the Lory State Park Rock Climbing guide for more information:

Getting There
To reach The Overlook, hike up the Arthur's Rock Trail for about 20-45 minutes. Do not take the Overlook Trail that you pass about five minutes into the hike instead continue up the Arthur’s Rock Trail. After you pass the "Bouldering Trail", you'll reach a nice bench in the trail. Here is the "trail overlook". The Overlook Wall Main Face is the shady wall downhill to the left. Look for a climber's trail that keeps you out of the 'No-Go Gully' below the wall!
