Description
Fladenstein translates to "Flatbread Stone"... If technical face climbing is up your alley then give this flatbread a sunny afternoon until you can't crimp any longer.
There are over twenty independent lines across this face and all end with large, single glue-in bolt anchors. I have been told these are over 15cm in length and there is no recorded failure of this style of hardware in the Pfalz per the DAV, the Deutsche Alpenverein (German Alpine Club)
To move efficiently across the wall we often rig adjacent climbs in a big inverted "U" shape draped across two anchors.
Easy after-work top rope access and a fun variety of movement make this a worthy destination if you find yourself in the area.
Suggest section of cordelette, a few locking and on locking carabiners, and a 30 meter long rope for the climbs if top roping.
Leading these routes requires no more than 6 draws.
Pitches range in difficulty from UIAA V- (Yosemite Decimal System ~5.6) to IX- (YDS 5.12c). MOST are VI+ (5.10a) or harder.

Getting There
4 minute approach. From the satelite view obvious dirt road pull off just outside the west gate of Landstuhl Regional Medical Center (United States Air Force) hike down stream/ north down into a drainage then immediately ascend a trail up and out of the true left side of the drainage to access the wall.
Descending straight down takes you into the valley bottom just west of Landstuhl
Contouring right along but underneath the hospital fence line will take you to the alternate area "Kramerstein"
