Description

Second-Hand Smoke (SHS) is a small crag located in Laural County off of Hwy 80 in between London and Somerset Kentucky. The area is typical Kentucky style sandstone that is highly featured and textured. The area isn't usually that crowded given its location away from RRG, but if there is a crowd there are other nearby crags that use the same approach that are available.

Getting There

Drive: Park on the side of Hwy 80 (very large shoulder and then some) at the end of the guard rails on the laurel county side of the river.

Approach: (5 minutes) Start walking down the hill on the North side of the road following the guardrail. You will find the climber's trail follows a small cliff line for a few hundred yards before heading down and away from the cliff to bypass a waterfall. The trail leads to an overhang that features a spring running out of it with a pipe for easy access and bottle filling (water still needs to be treated. Just past this overhang is the start of SHS crag.
