Description Suggest change

High peaks region of the Brooks lies entirely within the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. While most visitors head to the Arctic Refuge for caribou viewing and the unparalleled wilderness character, numerous 8000'+, glaciated peaks offer unique wilderness mountaineering challenges.

Getting There Suggest change

Access to the Refuge is via chartered bush plane; from tundra/gravel bar wilderness landing spots (unmaintained), expect multi-day/multi-week approaches in a non-trailed arctic landscape of grizzly, wolves, moose, Dall sheep, and caribou.
