Description

Located just above and below the famous monastery on the edge of Ohrid, some limited climbing on reddish limestone.

Amazing, scenic location, the climbing at St. Kaneo might be worthy as a diversion if in the area. Fun town with good restaurants and panoramic views of the expansive lake.

A couple routes at a nice, flat staging area just off the path slightly above the monastery. As well, climbing on the lake shore below the monastery, including a DWS-esque traverse.

Getting There

Hike the road/trail to the picturesque 13th century monastery the Church of St. John at Kaneo (Jovan Kaneo Church).

A nice loop from town is to hike in above the church on the way in, then drop down to the lake shore for the hike back.

Less than 700m from Saint Sophia on the west side of old town.
