Description Suggest change

Isili is A popular Sardinian center for overhang climbing. Due to the nature of the overhangy-ness, the climbing is athletic and great for rainy days. The rock is limestone featured almost exclusively with holes, the bolts are bomber glue-ins, the anchors are chains, and the approaches are short. You can climb all year round at Isili, although the summer should be avoided due to ticks. The crags are sheltered from the Maestrale and there are sun/shade crags depending upon your preference.

Camping is possible but uncommon along the road bordering the nearest crag. Expect to wake up to traveling shepherds, 100+ bell-clanging sheep, and 10+ herding dogs. After that experience, I recommend Hotel Cardellino which has discounts for climbers. Expect about 50 euros/night. They have woodfire oven for delicious cheap pizzas.

Getting There Suggest change

Parking at 39.75524, Lon: 9.11743. From Isili take the strada statale towards Laconi. Go past the municipal swimming baths, then past a "casa cantoniera" (red roadworkers' house) on the right. Go down into the valley and turn right at the first turning (after the bridge over the lake, for those arriving from the opposite direction). Go down the road and follow the unmade road (muddy after heavy rain) to a bridge. Park under Urania (first overhanging crag).
