Access Issue: Display Discover Pass, do not block gates, and park off the road
Details
DNR wants to pass on a friendly reminder to display your Discover Pass, not block any gates, and park well off the road to prevent getting ticketed or towed. Access Fund and Washington Climbers Coalition continue to partner with DNR on stewardship and management of the Gold Bar Boulders and their access sites. Description
Beam Me Up is a popular meeting and warm-up spot for those climbing on the west side of the boulder field. The area is just on the edge of the tree line, so it has a nice mix of sun and shade. Chewbacca and Mr. Brightside are just uphill to the west, if you are looking for some alternative warm-ups that aren't so crowded.
Getting There
Take the trail to the Five Star Boulder, crossing the stream and then switching back under the power lines tower. The trail will then veer northeast into the forest. Stay right at the first fork in the trail (left will take you to the Five Star Boulder) and continue east until the trail joins the logging road. Follow the logging road up hill to the west until you run into another switchback.
Look for a trail (old logging road) uphill from the switchback that heads east parallel to the logging road. Follow this trail, passing an old mine on the left, until you reach another switchback. Rather than turning at the switchback, continue straight due East until you see a trail heading straight uphill. Continuing East will take you to the Green Boulders. Instead, take the trail uphill all the way to the mature forest's edge where you'll see the Beam Me Up Boulder on your left.
