Please be aware of the annual raptor seasonal closures!
Raptor Closures Effective February 1-July 31
Visit: jeffco.us/open-space/news/2…
Tunnel 1 closure
For more details visit: jeffco.us/open-space/alerts…
The two areas Jefferson County Open Space intends to close in Clear Creek Canyon, shown on the attached maps, encompass the active eagle nests. If the Clear Creek eagles continue to nest in the active nests, these areas will remain closed from February 1 through July 31. If the eagles choose different nesting sites, the closures will be adjusted accordingly to protect those eagles during their breeding season.
Currently, rock climbing areas that fall inside of the seasonal raptor closures include:
Blonde Formation
Bumbling Stock
Evil Area
Ghost Crag
Highlander
Skinny Legs
Stumbling Block
Tetanus Garden
Fault Caves

Description
This is a small area with 3 sport route downstream from Catslab & The Rabbit Hole areas.
The routes are still a bit dirty and friable but well-protected with bolts. There are chains without hooks at each 2-bolt anchor. A single 60 meter rope will more than suffice. You are far enough around to almost not hear truck traffic. It faces south.
L->R:
A. Flip Me a Lucky, 9, 1p, 65', bolts.
B. Big Fish, 10, 1p, 80',bolts.
C. Bottom Feeder, 9+, 1p, 65', bolts.

Getting There
Park at the west side of Tunnel 5, cross the bridge, and head downstream passing Catslab, The trail continues, wandering up and down, marked by cairns (and flags today, so maybe plans are afoot to improve the trail?). You will pass The Rabbit Hole and Chocolate Bunny, then you go perhaps another 70 feet to the Fish Bowl. You will be well above the old railroad bridge abutments.
Apparently you could also walk down to the river at Catslab and follow an obvious fishing trail downstream. Just before the bridge abutment, there is a trail that cuts back steeply uphill directly to this section of the cliff (I've never done this).
