Description
Good for those looking to dip their feet in DWS, this approach is quite easy (and scenic) and the routes aren't tremendously difficult. I wouldn't recommend coming here just to climb, however. If you plan on hiking the Calanques from Cassis, bring your climbing shoes for an added bonus. That said, adding some climbing to this hike definitely made it more enjoyable.
Rock is limestone, water is crystal blue (and colder than you'd think), and it is absolutely beautiful.

Getting There
From Cassis (train or bus from Marseille or other towns), you'll have to walk to the entrances of the Calanques. Otherwise, you can rent a kayak and go from the center of town. However, you should note that Kayak rentals vary by location and you cannot rent after certain times of day and/or if the tide is too strong. The walk from Cassis to this area of the Calanques is about 1-1.5 hours. Bring at least a liter of water as you can't get any once hiking. Calanque de Port Pin is the first Calanque you will encounter on your hike. We attempted to get to Calanque d'en Vau but we left too late in the day and from Cassis that would have taken 2.5-3 hours.
Once you arrive at Calanque de Port Pin, walk along the rocky eastern edge until you can no longer walk easily. From there, you'll have an easy traverse to plenty of DWS options. Choose your own adventure on these quality, limestone rocks.
