Description Suggest change

From Kevin McLane's Alpine Select:

The two elegant towers of North and South Nesakwatch Spires are prominent on the crest of the divide just north of Rexford's north summit. The climbs described are short but airy with a very alpine feel to them, and are all reached from the Nesakwatch creek. Considering the amount of good granite, this area receives surprisingly little attention. South Nesakwatch Spire is immediately north of the summit of Rexford, and although from the west side it appears to be part of Rexford, the two are separated by a deep, barrow col. North Nesakwatch Spire is the lower but more prominent of the two spires, about 300m to the north.

Getting There Suggest change

3-4 hours up to the basin from the parking area. Approaches are from the Nesakwatch creek valley. To get there from Vancouver, take the Trans Canada highway to exit 119, and continue 5.5 km south through Sardis to a bridge crossing the Chilliwack river. Turn left onto the Chilliwack River road before the ridge (roundabout) and drive 30km to reach the Chilliwack South FSR, just past the BC forest service sign for a camping area. This will lead to the Nesakwatch FSR that gives access to the east side of Slesse, west side of Rexford and the Nesakwatch spires. after starting onto the FSR, turn right onto the Nesakwatch FSR at 400m. 2wd might make it up, but 4wd-hc recommended. Parking area is about 5.6-5.8 km from this point.

From the parking, continue walking up the FSR past some washouts and past a large slide/old creek bed. The trailhead is not obvious and is about 450m from the parking at 950m elevation.Follow the trail up until it meets a large (beautiful) granite wall and follow it to the right and up to the basin. There are some amazing bivvy boulders up here. First good campsites at 2650m, great sites in the basin above 1900m. In late season snow might be scarce, consider packing in all water.
