Description Suggest change

From Kevin McLane's 'Alpine Select':

This is the highest peak in the Joffre group, an attractive and deservedly popular mountain which offers a fine panorama in all directions from its summit. Matier offers a variety of climbs, all of which involve glacial approaches and descents, and most of which are modest in difficulty. Each side of the mountain is protected by glaciers, although only those on the south side are particularly steep. The normal route up the Northeast Face can be done as a car-to-car day trip by a fit party.

Getting There Suggest change

Approach via Joffre Creek and up the Matier Glacier for all climbs except the East Ridge, which should be approached via Cerise Creek. 4-5 h from car to upper Matier glacier.
