Description Suggest change

For a good long while, this was the only documented climbing in the entire province. This boulder is known as a glacial erratic. It is said to have been carried by the Wisconsin Glacier and then deposited in the middle of the prairie. Lucky for us Saskatchewanians. The rock is Hudson Bay Granite and despite being covered in lichen, it’s pretty great quality. The rock was historically used as a meeting site for pioneers and so, remains a respected historical site. Apparently there are some pictographs even though the majority of the human impact appears to be more recent and includes some spray paint. Try to respect the rock like you would any other place but keep in mind this rock is a rare commodity for Sask and somewhat respected as an historical site.

Getting There Suggest change

3.8 miles west of Hazlet. About 25 minutes off highway 1 and 3.5 hours from Regina. Worth a stop if you're driving the #1 west to some other destination.
