A beautiful peak that seems to stand out by itself. I'm no expert of it, but I've heard about a bit of technical climbing on this ranging from single pitch trad or sport, all day 5.10 endeavors, and class 2 strolls up the top. I believe this is because of the Vogelsang High Sierra camp that sits right at the base of the mountain. The west face of the peak has one of the most beautiful faces I've seen in the sierras and hosts at least (3) 5 class routes.

The only thing written I've seen is on RJ Secor's guide, although that doesn't have any specific topos - just descriptions.

Since it's a good hike in, making this a single day trip would be pretty challenging. Fortunately, there is great camping on the east side of fletcher lake (wilderness permit required) as well as cabineering at the high sierra camp. No matter, it's kind of nice to have the option of buying soda or candy when you're out there.

Getting There Suggest change

The most direct approach would be through rafferty canyon from Tuolumne Meadows. It's about a 7 mile hike gaining 2000 feet. You can also access it from Lyell canyon on the JMT that would add a couple miles to the trip.
