Sector Duke

International > Europe > Spain > Mallorca > El Fumat

Description

Sector Duke features a number of high quality routes, most of which start on the slab and move up into the gently overhanging, juggy upper face. This area includes a couple multi-pitch lines that extend to the top of the looming, El Fumat face.

Getting There

Walk the approach trail through and past Sector Free Tibet. After passing all the routes, continue another 200 feet, looking for the inviting Duke slab. The staple bolts and comfortable belay area will be hard to miss.

[Hide Comment] This area is fantastic. The first pitches on most of the taller lines are extremely entertaining, and well maintained with shiny glue-in/staple bolts. If you're climbing in the 5.10/5.11 range, this area should make your list for at least a half day, early on in your tour of Mallorca's crags.

The alternate to "Zitrione", called "Apendre Tort" looks like its bolts are rusted out, and the extremely impressive 5.12b extension to "Duke", called "Duquesa" is also in bad shape...but damn, would that be a great one to climb when fixed up. Super bold looking line. Apr 29, 2017

[Hide Comment] First few bolts of Apendre Tort are glue-ins, but the higher bolts are pretty rusty. They aren't too bad yet, but are definitely getting there. I definitely fell on them. Greate confidence inspiring glue-ins at the anchor though. The extensions looked really bad. Really beautiful area with really nice climbing. May 13, 2019
