Description
The entire area is now a vulture sanctuary and climbing is prohibited, this page is just for nostalgic memories/information.
Ramanadevera Betta or Ramgiri cluster is one of the iconic climbing areas, with some classic climbing including the 2-pitch Shanti.
The main attraction to the public is the temple atop the main hill, which involves ascending about 500 steps (~300 foot elevation gain). Apart from the main hill, which features two sub-areas, Lower and Upper Pond Wall, the adjoining/nearby hills host 4-5 sub-areas. A total of over 50 sport routes.
There is one sub-area, known within the urban climbing community as "Gowda's farm", where you might perhaps climb as the crag is adjoining the fields and is accessible from the other side (highway side). It may still be possible to climb in the Pond Walls up the main hill with prior permission from the forest department, but it seems to be a cumbersome process, not many people have tried it.
