Towers/Lodges

Virginia > Southwest Virgi… > Breaks Interstate Park

Description

New Crag being developed beneath the towers and the lodges. Sunny, 10 minute hike.

Getting There

Park at the lodges and walk down the parking lot to the left towards the woods. There is a trail called the "Towers Trail" marked by red paint and a sign that has fallen down. Go into the woods on this trail for about 75 feet and look for a fallen down tree on the right with pink flag leading into the woods. Follow the pink flagging to the left to the Towers cliff.  The towers cliff can be seen on the left from the climbers trail.  To reach the lodges cliff, follow the climber trail to where you can see the towers crag on the left and look right for a string of pink flags to the right that will lead you to the start of the Lodges Crag.

[Hide Comment] This area had numerous climbs in need of cleaning. We climbed about 6 different routes and spent time removing large amounts of sand, dirt, and debris. We also tried to remove loose and brittle rock on routes. Please help clean these routes up if you are going to climb in this area. Bring a brush and provide some help and service to the area. Don't just climb it and move on to the next one. Sep 9, 2020

The current "Getting There" content is not correct or up-to-date. Using this content will have you wondering through the woods above tall, dangerous cliffs.

We parked in the Lodges parking lot; however, instead of heading down any of the hiking trails, take an immediate Right onto the ATV trail. Walk approximately 20-30 yards to find a "Rock Climbing Access" sign on your Left. This trail will lead you directly to the Towers climbing wall after an approximate 5 min hike down a steep hill. See my suggestions on other Towers/Lodges areas for details on getting to those walls. Sep 9, 2020
