BM Betta

International > Asia > India > Bangalore Area… > Kanakapura & vicinity

Description

BM Betta, or Bananthimari Betta, is a beautiful granite dome, rising about 700' above its surroundings. As of 2016, BM Betta has two bolted multi-pitch routes going up the south face of the main hill, and would make for a pleasant day of climbing, with exciting runouts and a fantastic summit.

Getting out before dark is advisable, as elephants are known to wander through the forest after dusk.

Getting There

The trailhead is by the Bananthimari Temple (see map). Park in the clearing by the temple (Since February 2019 there is a smooth road all the way to the temple).

Follow the trail (there's only one big one) on the east side of the clearing to approach the climbs. About a 20-minute walk will get you to the base of the south face.
