Description
The town of Porto Cristo houses several top notch DWS crags, the largest and best of which is Cova del Diablo on the north end of town. Cova del Diablo is generally regarded as one of the best DWS crags in the world. The Porto Cristo crags tend to have far less crowds than Cala Varques, but Cova del Diablo is probably the 2nd best bet as far as running into other climbers if you're solo and not wanting to drown.
Because of the summer tourist season's impact on non-climbing aspects of life in Mallorca (prices, crowds, availability), and because of the tendency for routes to be wet in the summer, the best months to visit are September/October. However, climbing is still enjoyable in the spring/summer and affordable apartment rentals are available year-round.
