Description Suggest change

Seldom visited but that's likely to change with the addition of several new climbs. At roughly 4000', the ridge provides stunning views in a pseudo-alpine setting. Given its elevation and north facing walls, it's a great option on summer days but climbing is stellar all times of the season.

This area is home to Punk Rock & Parking Lot Rock and the newly established New Wave Wall, Pop Rock, and The Watchtower. With roughly 30+ climbs ranging from 5.8 to 5.13 in a pseudo-alpine setting and short approach times (2-20min) this area is well worth the hike, bike or drive up Ranger Road.

Getting There Suggest change

To get there, take Ranger Road off Ski Hill Dr (please drive slowly) which turns into FS rd 7701. Please be mindful of the others users of this road (Bikers, Hikers, Paragliders, Hunters, etc). It’s mostly a single lane road but there are a few places to pull over and let cars pass. Just be mindful of those areas and remember that downhill traffic has the right of way.

Once past the gate after the road turns to dirt, you'll take the first 2 left turns. After the first left, don’t be fooled by the old abandoned road shortly (.15 miles) up hill. The second left turn is a a little ways further from here (.35 miles after the first left). Take this road to the parking lot just below the ridge.

4x4 is not mandatory but it is a minimally maintained FS road and you can expect to navigate small sections of rocks, potholes, narrow off camber road, etc. Subarus and other vehicles with average-above average clearance will be idea. Branches and bushes have been cut back however you can expect some growth to find its way into the edges. Overall, the road is in good shape and should not deter you from visiting this location. There are no toilets or water so please plan accordingly and leave things better than you find it… allow 30+ minutes of drive time.

Once at the parking lot, go to the small saddle and pick up the trail heading South. Hike times range from 2 minutes to 25 minutes.
