Description
Large, deep canyon that parallels the I-17 as it descends into the Verde Valley from the south. Running water in bottom (small stream, bring a filter if you want to drink it) and a relatively driveable road labeled as FS 136 leading to a short foot approach. High clearance vehicles recommended but my buddy did it in a Subaru.
Getting There
Take the General Crook Trail exit off of the I-17 and connect with the 260, turn east on the 260 and drive a very short distance and take a right on Oasis Rd. Take another right off of Oasis onto a dirt road labeled as FS136 with asphalt piles visible aways down. Take this dirt road all the way to the climbs. Stay left when you get to a T as going right will put you in a parking lot. The first hill is super rocky and rough then the road smooths out.
