Description
Up canyon from the Stranger than Friction Wall and behind No Sweat Arete lies the Great Awakening Wall. Standing over 1000' tall, this wall is a beautiful piece of stone. Rock quality gets better as you climb higher on the wall. The Great Awakening Wall sits on the right edge, and slightly in front of Mill Creek's mega wall, the Bittersweet.
Getting There
Follow the Mill Creek Approach. At the top of the hill, continue left, following the faint climbers trail uphill to a small wall. Find a right trending, bushy ramp leading to the upper talus gully. At this point you have a clear view of the wall up and right. Work your way up the talus until below a small wall at the foot of the GAW. Here you will find mandatory fifth class terrain, with the path of least resistance being a blocky step on the left. Once through the short fifth class step, carefully traverse right to the base of the GAW. Expect 1.5-2 hours for the approach.
