Description

Sheep Mountain or "Clancy" is an old school trad climbers hang out filled with granite cracks and towers, a few sport and mixed routes, and a seemingly endless amount of bouldering potential. The area is popular with hikers, climbers, dirt bikers, and folfers. The crags are spread about BLM land located off of Sheep Mountain Road a short drive south of Helena, MT.

Getting There

Take I-15 South from Helena to the Clancy exit. Head west on Lump Gulch Road for approx (3) miles then take a right on Sheep Mountain Road. You will wind up past a Frisbee golf course and numerous private driveways before coming to a left turn down a beaten two track to the main parking area. Just pay attention to private road and no trespassing signs and you won't run into any issues. The map location is set to the main parking area, with most of the climbing occurring a short walk to the north.
