The Labyrinth

California > Sonora Pass Hig… > Columbia Bouldering

Description

Possibly one of the most unique and densely populated bouldering areas in California. The Labrynth offers as much adventure as it does boulder problems. Navigating the area can be extremely difficult. It is strongly recommended to pick up the guide book in downtown Sonora at SNAC for the maps. There is a Facebook page, "Columbia Bouldering", where you might find a local to show you the way too.

Getting There

Get the guidebook for the hand drawn maps. These directions will only get you to the Approach Boulders.

From the State Park parking lot, walk 100 yards east to the dirt road and find the "Stage Coach Only" sign. Walk down this road for a few minutes until you see a less traveled dirt road off to the right. Just after getting on this road, there will be a trail on your left. The first problem you will see is "The Cave Route" on your right. These are the approach boulders.

If you are following the maps in the book to get to the Labrynth Main East/West and VB Land, note that problem "Broken" V2 has fallen over and is blocking the original trail. Step over the giant broken block to get back on trail.
