Description Suggest change

Mt Colonel Foster is the fourth highest peak on Vancouver Island and undoubtedly its most impressive mountain. The massif forms a classic cirque around a deep glaciated cirque at Landslide Lake with its apex rising in a dramatic series of buttresses and couloirs to a 2km wide summit ridge.

By far the longest and boldest of the alpine routes on Vancouver Island are found on Mt Colonel Foster and some of its routes are of national significance.

Getting There Suggest change

Mt Colonel Foster can be best reached via the Elk River Trail off Highway 28. It is about 12km up an easy grade trail to Landslide Lake. From there several options continue higher onto the mountain depending on the chosen route.
