Description
The Bench of Animas Mountain is filled with ultra-classic bouldering made up of mostly conglomerate sandstone. There are a plethora of problems with a wide range difficulty making The Bench a prime spot for any climber. There is potential for bolt and trad lines on the cliffs above the boulders as well, some of which have already been established.
Getting There
From the West 32nd Street parking lot for Animas Mountain, start walking up on the rightmost trail. When you reach a trail map, take a right heading East. You will soon reach a series of switchbacks. Partway up the third switchback, make a sharp right onto an well-used trail marked by a pair of wooden posts. From here, hike East on a flat trail, the boulders are in scattered clusters to the left of the trail.
