Description
Taghia is a bit of paradise for strong climbers wanting adventure on bolted limestone in a remote setting. It's best to be a solid 5.11+ climber to enjoy the routes here, but unless you plan to hire a local to climb with, you need to come with a climbing partner. It's unlikely that a solo climber can show up and find another traveling climber to partner with.
The 2nd edition of the guidebook was released in 2019 and features over 300 routes (French language only) and more first ascents are added every year. 9cclimbing.com/products/tag…
Getting There
For a majority of tourists, it is best to rent a car in Marrakech and drive all the way to Taghia. The drive to Zaouiat Ahansal is about 6 hours, and from here there is a dirt road that can take you all the way to the village of Taghia. This dirt road is new as of 2024 but can sometimes be washed out after heavy rains. It's best to coordinate your arrival with the help of whichever guesthouse you're staying at and they can give you up-to-date information on the road condition. Most of the guesthouses can also coordinate your transportation from the airport if you'd rather not drive yourselves.
