Description
Wadi Araba, a canyon leading north out of the Petra area is far removed from the actual ruins and historical protected areas of Petra itself. The locals mention it as being part of the Bidah Range. The rock quality is typical for the Wadi Rum style quality, and despite the roadside nature of some of the climbs, it is almost guaranteed you will have all of the climbing to yourself.
Getting There
If approaching Al Wajeh (the Face), drive out of Little Petra area into Wadi Araba for 6 km to a Big Rock formation where the road seems to really "open up". This big dome comprises The Face will be immediately obvious. One can easily make out the features of a "Face" and see cheekbones, a nose, eyes, and eyebrows. The likeness is quite amazing.
The routes in Little Petra are approached up that canyon and in Bajaeh Slot Canyon is just down from The Face area in Wadi Fedray Siq Bajaeh. The potential here is as everywhere, enormous.
