Description
This area , the "Steinerne Stadt," translate to "City of Rocks," and has become the area of choice for climbing classes taught by the guide services in the Groednertal (Wolkenstein, St. Christina, and St, Ulrich). There are literally acres of large rocks, bigger than boulders, which are studded with well-placed expansion bolts.
Getting There
Park a car at the Sassolungo / Passo Sella lift area (paid parking, can be ~25 USD for the day), or take a bus to the Sella Pass. There's a trail/4-wheel drive capable trail/road starting beneath the Sassolungo gondolabahn heading uphill towards the mountain massif. Walk up the road, and within 5-10 minutes, there are many rocks on the left and right of the trail with routes -- look for hangers!
