Description
This page will cover the climbing from town of Yellow Pine to the greater Big Creek area. Big Creek is a lesser known access point to the Frank Church River Of No Return Wilderness. It includes a Forest Service Station, Grass Airstrip, and a verity of camping options. This area is remote, rugged and guarded by 50-60 miles of dirt road. Climbing here could be considered high risk due to the loose steep terrain, sometimes poor rock quality, and large distance to any Hospital.
Climbing development here is a work in progress, but significant potential exists. The greatest assets currently lie in the Quator Lake area (Sport) and toward McCall on Elk Creek Summit (Bouldering & Traditional). The Opportunity for FAs and adventure climbing is pretty much limitless.
